Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has asked the parties to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict (Artsakh) to take part in the online conference of the Council of heads of state of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which will be held on Friday in the Belarusian capital Minsk.
Lukashenko took the floor immediately after the Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
“Nikol Vovayevich [Pashinyan], You are absolutely right that the CIS is not a platform for clarifying individual issues. We do not have such powers and functions. But we are grateful to have you along with Ilham Heydarovich [Aliyev], informed the heads of [CIS member] Information on the situation in your region; and our friends – both Azerbaijanis and Armenians – live there, “said the Belarusian president.
Lukashenko noted that the CIS authorities will take this information into account when developing policies in their countries.
During his speech, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attacked Armenia, accusing the latter and Iran of “organizing international trade to Europe”, refusal to issue maps of minefields, and “vandalism and the destruction of Azerbaijani monuments and settlements”.
After Aliyev, Pashinyan gave a speech and said that the platform of heads of state of the CIS countries was not a platform for mutual clarification of questions. In this context, he noted that Armenia had filed complaints with relevant international organizations – the United Nations International Court of Justice in The Hague – and that Armenia would bring all its allegations there and substantiate its position on the Karabakh conflict.
