Belarus advanced technology, products in demand in Syria

MINSK, October 1 (BelTA) – The latest Belarusian economic technologies and products are in demand in Syria, said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus for Syrian Yuri Sluka when meeting with Belarusian manufacturers participating in the Rebuild SYRIA exhibition Participation, which was opened in Damascus On September 29th, BelTA learned about the exhibition company Belinterexpo of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“After more than 10 years of armed conflict, the Syrian Arab Republic urgently needs modern technologies, including in residential construction, industrial and road construction, machine and tractor construction. The list of industries is endless. Syrian local consumers are absolutely convinced of the quality of Belarusian products and machines. We are welcome here. I think that the participation of Belarusian companies in such exhibitions is another step towards our goal. I am confident that we will achieve corresponding success, ”said the diplomat.

The Exhibition of Belarusian Manufacturers Made in Belarus will showcase seven domestic companies presenting goods and services necessary for the implementation of projects to restore the infrastructure and economy of Syria. New models of tractors adapted to work in hot climates were brought to the exhibition by one of the world’s leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery, Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ brand). MTZ vehicles are already widespread in the Syrian market. More than 2,000 Belarusian tractors work in the country.

The Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ brand) also presented its products. Minsk Motor Plant presented its range of modern diesel engines, spare parts and other products. The Brest electrotechnical plant demonstrated rail automation, telemechanics and communication equipment. “Its products fully meet the requirements of the local market, as Syria’s railway infrastructure was designed according to Soviet standards. Today, the Syrian rail communication system is 80% destroyed, so restoring it has become an important task for the government, ”said the exhibition company.

The European Agricultural Agency Specstroy was also represented at the Made in Belarus exhibition. The company erects buildings and structures, including multi-storey ones, dismantled and demolished, sorts and recycles rubble. Cattle breeding and breeding as well as the construction of dairy farms are another business area of ​​the company. The company has aroused the interest of Syrian partners, said Belinterexpo.

Belagro Bel, a group of companies supplying agricultural complexes, is participating in the Syria exhibition in a remote format. “The remote format includes negotiations with potential business partners without leaving Belarus. Belinterexpo has its representatives on site, in Damascus, and they familiarize Syrian visitors with the proposals of the Belarusian manufacturers,” said Belinterexpo.

The Syrian Minister of Public Works and Housing, Suhail Muhammad Abdul Latif, took part in the Made in Belarus exhibition of Belarusian manufacturers. He familiarized himself with the proposals of Belarusian companies, gave them recommendations on how to promote products and services in the local market and also secured his support.

The participants in the Belarusian exhibition held a series of meetings with representatives of the government authorities and the Syrian economy. In particular, meetings were held with the Vice-President of the Syrian Chamber of Commerce Association Labib al-Ekhwan, the representative of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Syria Riad Hamad, the President of the Association of Syrian Chambers of Agriculture and MP, President of the Damascus Chamber of Commerce, Osama Mustafa, members of the Syrian- Belarusian Economic Council and the Belarusian Ambassador to Syria, Yuri Sluka. The Belarusian delegation visited the city of Homs and the Hisyah industrial area, 120 km from Damscus.

Belinterexpo announced that they are planning, together with their Syrian partners, to organize a series of congress and exhibition events that will take place in a hybrid format, alternating between Syria and Belarus. According to the company, this will enable representatives from various industries to find business partners.

The Made in Belarus exhibition of Belarusian manufacturers at Rebuild SYRIA Exhibition was organized with the support of the Belarusian Embassy in Syria.

The Rebuild SYRIA has been taking place in the Syrian capital since 2015. In 2019 it attracted 389 companies from 31 countries and was visited by more than 40,000 people.
